This entails more than just making sure your files are backed up and organized during your research project. In this course we will discuss the importance of data documentation, share practical advice and resources for ensuring the long-term future of your data, and help you find a ‘forever home’ for your work.

UT Requires open access of all theses, reports, and dissertations.  However, the Graduate School can temporarily delay the publication (embargo) of your thesis or dissertation for up to two years.  This workshop will clarify open access publication, your rights as the copyright owner of your thesis or dissertation, reasons why you might want to embargo your thesis or dissertation, as well as the procedures for doing so.  There will be opportunity for Q & A. 

Do have data that you’re not sure how to use?  Creating visualizations is a good way to ask questions of your data and to share your data with others. Visualizations can include everything from a simple chart to an interactive map and can be a powerful way to tell a story about your data. In this introductory workshop, we’ll examine what makes a good visualization and then go over best practices for working with your data. This class will introduce you to a number of free tools that you can use to create visualizations of your data.
