Master's Program
Overview
The Graduate School recognizes three options under which a student may pursue a master’s degree. Which options are available to you depends on your academic program, so it’s important to confirm early with your graduate adviser and the Graduate Catalog.
Understand Your Master’s Degree Option
- 1. With Thesis
-
A research-focused pathway that culminates in a thesis.
- 2. With Report
-
An applied or practice-based pathway that culminates in a written report.
- 3. Without Thesis or Report
-
A coursework-only pathway.

Important Note: All three options may not be available in every field of study.

- Contact your graduate adviser for program-specific guidance.
Keep in Mind
- Individual programs may require more than 30 hours.
- Many programs require more coursework for the Report and No Thesis/No Report options than for the Thesis option.
- All coursework cannot be older than six years. Review the Master's Chart of Six-Year Time Limit.
