Amy Johnson McLaughlin Centennial Professor
Elizabeth Gershoff is the Amy Johnson McLaughlin Centennial Professor in the Department of Human Development Family Sciences in the College of Natural Sciences. Dr. Gershoff is passionate about graduate education at UT, having herself earned both master’s and doctoral degrees here. After holding a research position at Columbia University and a tenured faculty position at the University of Michigan, Dr. Gershoff returned to UT as a faculty member in 2009.
Within her home department, Dr. Gershoff served as Graduate Advisor for seven years and received the Outstanding Graduate Advisor Award from the Graduate School in 2014. She also served as Postdoctoral Training Director and PI of an NIH training grant at the Population Research Center (PRC) in the College of Liberal Arts. Dr. Gershoff recently completed a five-year term as Director of the PRC. Dr. Gershoff is an internationally recognized expert in the effects of parenting on children and on the ways in which policies and intervention programs affect children’s lives.
