Graduate School Dean Mark J. T. Smith Announces Retirement

Mark J. T. Smith, dean of the Graduate School and senior vice provost for academic affairs, has announced his retirement and will step down as upon completion of the 2022-23 academic year. A national search will soon begin to identify his successor.

Sexual Assault Prevention For New Graduate Students

As many of you are aware, U.S. News & World Report published its new rankings this morning for “the Best Graduate Schools” in the U.S. I am excited to share that The University of Texas at Austin now has 55 graduate programs ranked in the top 10.

Watch The Three Minute Thesis Competition Live

You are invited to watch The University of Texas at Austin's Three Minute Thesis (3MT) on Friday, Nov. 12, 2021 at 10 a.m.

3MT is a competition that helps graduate students cultivate the skills to communicate academic and research concepts to general audiences. Participating students use approachable language and concepts to explain their research in three minutes or less to a panel of judges.
